Our Year 2 (6th Grade) students have been diving deep into the fascinating world of ecology this term! In our Bilingual Biology lessons, we are currently exploring how energy moves through nature by studying Food Chains and Food Webs.

Interactive Learning with Digital & Physical Tools

To make these biological concepts come to life, we are using a variety of modern resources:

Digital Practice with Anton.app

Students have been using the English-language modules on the Anton.app. This interactive platform allows them to visualize habitat relationships and test their knowledge of “who eats what” through engaging digital exercises.

Every student uses an Oaka Books Topic Pack.

We’ve introduced specialized learning materials from Oaka Books (specifically the KS3 Environment: Feeding Relationships pack). These resources are designed for visual learners, using clear illustrations and “Hands-On” activities to help students understand the difference between a simple food chain and a complex food web.

Student Creativity in Action

As you can see from our classroom photos, the students have been busy creating their own visual representations of ecosystems in their notebooks. From the grasslands of the savanna to our local forests, they are mapping out the delicate balance of life.

“It’s interesting to see how one animal can be part of many different food chains at the same time,” noted one student during our discussion on food webs.

By the end of this unit, our young biologists won’t just know the English terms for these animals—they will understand the vital importance of protecting every link in the chain to keep our planet’s ecosystems healthy.
